Merck: enter the item number without period and just the first six numerics.
AlfaAesar: enter the english product/substances name.
SigmaAldrich: seemingly linking only the msds in german language - with your first selection of a Sigma Aldrich msds you select your language.
- I am looking for a compound without knowing the cas number?
- Enter the substance name (or parts of it). The hit list will display the cas numbers as link. After clicking this link will start a new search with the selected cas number as search term.
- Do I have to enter substances names in english or german?
- Both works. English substance names are marked as '(en)'
- How do I have to enter the cas number?
- Type in as written in your source, no spaces, just like 67-64-1
- How do I search using greek letters?
- Enter alpha, beta, etc.
- I am searching for standard chemicals using 'exact' an get only few hits?
- Some compounds are listed with product identifier, e.g. 'benzene for syntheses'. Try search key 'word beginning'or 'partial'.
- Do I have to care for capitalization?
- No - lower case works as well.
- Whose vendords/manufactures material-safety-data sheets are listed ?
- Have a look at manufacturer.
- It is possible to search for synonyms?
- No - all entries accord to the manufacturer ordername. Maybe you find the cas number search helpful.
